Abstract
The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the performance of alternative alloys for use as cathodes in anodically protected heat exchangers containing hot concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solutions. Comparing the possible elemental sulfur-fouling and corrosion tendencies under polarization of selected alloys, UNS N06200 was the most suitable cathode for drying acid and UNS N10665 was the most suitable for absorbing acid.
