Abstract
Un chien croise labrador âge de neuf ans presente un abattement severe et un ptyalisme. Son examen dinique revele un choc hypovolemique avec suspicion d'hypotension. L'auscultation cardiaque, les radiographies thoraciques, l'echocardiographie et l'analyse cytologique du liquide d'epanchement permettent d'etablir un diagnostic d'epanchement pericardique idiopathique. Le trace electrocardiographique met en evidence une tachycardie paroxystique ventriculaire, relativement rare en cas d'epanchement pericardique idiopathique. Une pericardocentese est realisee pour lever la tamponnade. Un traitement classique de soutien est administre. Le chien presente une recidive fatale un an plus tard. La discussion aborde les outils diagnostiques en voie de developpement ainsi que les differents traitements envisageables.
