Abstract
Yves Bergeron fue director del servicio de investigación y evaluación del Museo de la Civilización en Québec de 1999 a 2005. Hoy en día es profesor de museología en el Departamento de historia del arte de la Universidad de Québec en Montreal. Su texto propone una mirada sobre la evolución de los museos de etnografía y los museos de sociedad en Canadá en el transcurso de los 40 últimos años. El autor retrata la génesis del Museo de la Civilización de Québec que se ha convertido en un modelo de referencia para los museos de sociedad desde 1988. Se analizan los factores que le permitieron distinguirse en el contexto particular del Québec, foco de la cultura francesa en Canadá. Las similitudes entre Québec y Cataluña permiten entender mejor lo que está en juego con este tipo de museos para naciones pequeñas en el contexto de la mundialización.
