The objective of this paper is to outline the high-level process used by the Government of Alberta to effectively manage its infrastructure, the performance measures used, and the associated tools that are being developed. One of the goals in the Government of Alberta 2006-09 Business Plan is that “Alberta will have a supportive and sustainable infrastructure that promoted growth and enhances the quality of life.” Effective and sustainable infrastructure is deemed essential in achieving the vision of a vibrant and prosperous province where Albertans can enjoy a superior quality of life.
