Abstract
Cet article présente une analyse des entraves à la mise en œuvre de la mobilité durable dans les métropoles canadiennes à la lumière de l’étude du cas de la région de la capitale nationale du Canada, l’agglomération interprovinciale d’Ottawa-Gatineau. Il en ressort que la coordination des transports et de l’urbanisme, considérée nécessaire à la mise en œuvre de cette nouvelle approche, se révèle extrêmement difficile à concrétiser dans les régions métropolitaines, et ce, peu importe leur niveau de fragmentation institutionnelle. À l’ère du développement durable, ces résultats suggèrent de réévaluer les démarches planificatrices à la lumière du contexte de métropolisation et de complexification de la gouvernance métropolitaine.
