Abstract
While glucosamine supplementation is very common and a multitude of commercial products are available, there is currently limited information available to assist the equine practitioner in deciding when and how to use these products. Low bioavailability of orally administered glucosamine, poor product quality, low recommended doses, and a lack of scientific evidence showing efficacy of popular oral joint supplements are major concerns.
