fetched live from OpenAlex

The dom musicians of Egypt, Kevin Holmes In this article, Kevin Holmes, coordinator of ?Dom Studies? at the ?Dom Research Center? in North Africa, explains his meeting with dom musicians in a trip he recently made to Egypt. The author visits the home of two Gipsy families, where music plays a very important part. Although nowadays the request for this kind of music is very scarce, dom musicians feel very proud of this artistic inheritance passed on from one generation to another. However, as the author has realized during his visit to the second family, the music from the dom from Egypt had also in the past an important international echo. The United States, Canada and some European countries were some of the settings where one could listen to the performance of the musicians from this family.
