Abstract
Se analiza la propuesta que, sobre el enfoque curricular por competencias, ha realizado el gobierno de la provincia canadiense de Quebec. Un modelo que se propone como ejemplo al facilitar el cambio y la adaptacion del profesorado hacia el nuevo desarrollo curricular. En el, la ensenanza de las Ciencias Sociales de la Geografia y de la Historia se vincula a la Educacion para la Ciudadania. El alumnado ha de formar su pensamiento critico y creativo y aplicarlo a la comprension de su mundo y a la accion social. La ensenanza en el area de Ciencias Sociales, Geografia e Historia ha de dotar a los alumnos y alumnas de instrumentos que les hagan ser mas sabios y mas autonomos y que les permitan escribir sus propios textos y desarrollar sus propios proyectos ademas de convertirles en ciudadanos mas comprometidos con su mundo y su futuro
