España y Portugal frente a la lengua árabe: Motivaciones para el estudio del árabe en tres gramáticas del siglo XVIII
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The combination of two tendencies of linguistic studies in the 18 th century - the historicist peak on the one hand and the interest for foreign tongues on the other - brought about, in the case of the Iberian Peninsula, the development of the study of the Arabic language. In this way this epic saw the publication, both in Spain and in Portugal, of various methods for learning whose prologues become authentic apologias in which numerous motivations justifying the study of Arabic are included. The present paper seeks to analyse the arguments which, during the last quarter of the 18 th century, a series of Spanish and Portuguese scholars contributed in the prologues of their grammars. One includes not only the intrinsic and extrinsic reasons these scholars gave in the justification of their ideas, but also emphasises the existing similarities in the three works, which is the result, no doubt, of the shared historical and cultural situation present in both countries.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
