Abstract
Le suivi de la population de saumon atlantique (Salmo salar) sur l’Oir (Basse Normandie) de 1984 à 1994 permet de disposer d’une série de données sur le stock (dépose d’œufs) et le recrutement (production de juvéniles migrant vers la mer ou smolts) portant sur 10 cohortes. La taille du stock initial influe sur la survie, depuis l’œuf jusqu’au smolt, par un effet densité-dépendant négatif, effet qui suggère l’existence d’une relation stock/recrutement avec un “plafonnement” du recrutement moyen quand le stock s’accroît fortement. Le niveau du recrutement moyen maximum est inférieur à celui qui a été observé sur d’autres rivières plus septentrionales (Canada et îles Britanniques). La productivité de l’Oir pour le recrutement en smolts est faible, ce qui fragilise ce système du point de vue du renouvellement des générations.
