Abstract
L’usage de la force létale par les policiers est fortement médiatisé et controversé. Mais, hors de ces débats, comment les policiers interprètent‑ils quotidiennement l’éventualité de tuer un citoyen ? La réalisation d’une recherche doctorale aux frontières de l’anthropologie et de l’éthique nous a permis de mieux saisir les difficultés inhérentes à la préparation et à l’acceptation de l’usage de la force létale ainsi que les appréhensions et les craintes des policiers. Le présent article présentera les apports et les défis de notre thèse doctorale interdisciplinaire. Nous y expliquerons, dans un premier temps, comment nous sommes parvenus à faire valoir notre démarche interdisciplinaire et notre terrain de proximité. Par la suite, nous montrerons l’apport de notre démarche pour la compréhension de l’usage de la force létale.
