Plusieurs facteurs font obstacle à l’autonomie patrimoniale des jeunes Églises en République démocratique du Congo. Ils ont été identifiés, entre autres, par le cardinal Malula. Des propositions qui visent la croissance de cette autonomie ont été faites par le pape Jean-Paul II et par différentes assemblées supra-épiscopales africaines. D’un point de vue canonique, des solutions institutionnelles et l’inculturation du droit par la création d’un droit particulier pourraient également y contribuer.
