Cet article propose d’examiner, dans une approche ergonomique, les relations entre l’âge et le travail sous l’angle des temps, comme problème croisant des temporalités multiples, sociétales, gestionnaires, collectives et individuelles. Ces différentes temporalités règlent le temps et cadrent les relations âge/travail dans des configurations débouchant sur des conflits temporels. L’activité de travail peut être alors conçue comme un carrefour temporel combinant, de manière synchronique et diachronique, ces temporalités. Elle devient un espace de régulation des temporalités où se joue la capacité à produire du temps. Les relations âge/travail sont examinées au travers de trois terrains de recherche : le travail répétitif ou le temps rétréci, le travail collectif en tant qu’il règle le temps sur le rythme du métier, la transmission des savoirs professionnels entre anciens et nouveaux, comme expérience temporelle qui transcende les temporalités individuelles du cycle de vie.
