Abstract
The author explores the possible effects on the psychoanalytic profession of the increasing presence of women. She argues that no substantial modifications have occurred as a result of this demographic shift. Both male and female analysts need to make use of both masculine and feminine psychic identifications in their work, maintaining states of active perplexity and receptivity in the modes of being and doing.
