Abstract
Os sedimentos desempenham um papel fundamental em ecossistemas aquáticos, já que são capazes de acumular e remobilizar contaminantes. Sendo assim, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar os teores de metais em 4 pontos da bacia hidrográfica do córrego Pinhalzinho II no município de Umuarama no noroeste do Paraná, bem como, comparar os valores obtidos com os valores de pH, já que pequena alteração no pH pode aumentar a mobilidade e a toxicidade do metal. As coletas foram sazonais no decorrer de um ano. Foram detectadas nas amostras os elementos Cu, Zn , Mn e Fe, os quais estão abaixo dos limites do Canadian Environmental Quality Guidelines (EQGs). Os resultados desse trabalho parecem ter correlação direta com a constituição da área em estudo e apontam para necessidade de um monitoramento da concentração de espécies metálicas nessa bacia, já que muitos desses elementos estão sob ambiente de pH ácido, podendo aumentar sua toxicidade e ser remobilizados para coluna d’água.
