Abstract
El aporte fundamental de esta obra se encuentra en las claves ofrecidas al lector para afrontar el debate sobre el fenómeno autonómico en el subcontinente, en tanto realidad que cada vez se impone con mayor fuerza como estrategia en el proceso de construcción democrática de sociedades plurales. Sin embargo, se extraña un análisis que, aun cuando tenga a las autonomías indígenas como centro, trate con mayor profundidad la necesaria articulación de este proyecto con el Estado, sobre todo a partir de la reconfiguración en América Latina de Estados en los cuales el régimen autonómico ha sido diseñado sobre todo el territorio nacional y sobre la totalidad de la población (por ejemplo Bolivia y Ecuador). Éste es un elemento importante, toda vez que el estudio de las autonomías, posicionado sólo desde la realidad indígena, puede caer en el error histórico y político de resultar tan excluyente como la organización del poder estatal dentro del paradigma del Estado-nación.
