最近，四家跨国轮胎公司米其林、大陆、固特异、普利司通先后宣布对北美的几家工厂进行关闭或减产，分别是：米其林，关闭Kitchener和Ontario工厂，并计划对Opelika和Ala．工厂进行减产、裁员，幅度达30％～40％；大陆，停止美国北卡罗来纳州Charlotte工厂的生产；固特异，将在明年减少1／3私人品牌轮胎的生产，年降低产能约800万条，这将对美国和加拿大地区生产这些轮胎的5家企业造成影响；
