ABSTRAK Abstrak:Peningkatan kompetensi dosen merupakan salah satu usaha untuk meningkatkan kualitas dosen di Universitas Jabal Ghafur Sigli. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui program perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan pengawasan peningkatan kompetensi sumber daya manusia (SDM). Narasumber terdiri dari rektor, pembantu dekan, para dosen dari program studi yang berbeda, staf lembaga penelitian dan pengembangan masyarakat (LPPM) dan staf badan jaminan mutu (BJM). Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program perencanaan peningkatan kompetensi dosen di Universitas Jabal Ghafur Sigli meliputi; meningkatkan kemampuan mengajar (better teaching), kegiatan penelitian, menyediakan media publikasi jurnal, memudahkan akses kebutuhan informasi pendidikan, dan pengembangan pengajaran berbasis teknologi. Pelaksanaan program yang sudah dilakukan antara lain; meningkatkan kemampuan mengajar (better teaching) dengan mengembangkan dan mengadopsi metode-metode pengajaran baru, melaksanakan kegiatan penelitian dan menerapkannya melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat, mengadakan pelatihan, seminar, workshop dan short course/magang. Program studi lanjut ke jenjang S2 dan S3 sedang berjalan. Upaya menjalin kerjasama dengan universitas lain yang sudah maju terus ditingkatkan baik di dalam negeri maupun di luar negeri. Sistem pengawasan terhadap perencanaan dan pelaksanaan program dilakukan oleh Rektor melalui Badan Jaminan Mutu (BJM), meliputi kegiatan melakukan monitoring dan evaluasi, diserahkan kepada rektor untuk ditindak lanjutiseperti mengirim surat kepada setiap dekan dan kepala program dan menginstruksikan dekan untuk membina terus dosen yang kinerjanya cukup baik dan bagi dosen yang kinerjanya kurang baik tidak diberikan mata kuliah pada semester selanjutnya, menginstruksikan dosen yayasan untuk melakukan penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat sebagai syarat untuk mendapatkan honor dan mengirim mereka menghadiri seminar dan workshop. MANAGEMENT OF INCREASING COMPETENCY FOR LECTURERS IN JABAL GHAFUR UNIVERSITY SIGLI ABSTRACT (Diana Devi) Abstract: The increasing of lecturer competency is one of the efforts made to increase the quality of the lecturers in Jabal Ghafur University of Sigli. The purpose of this study was to find out what the planning programs, the implementation, and the supervision of human resources improvement program. The source persons of this study were the rector, the vice deans, the lecturers from various study programs, the staffs of Research and Community Development Service, and the staffs of Quality Assurance Agency. This study was a qualitative descriptive study. The results of this study showed that the proses of planning programs of lecturer competency improvement included the teaching ability improvement, the research activity, the provision of journal publication media, the ease of access to the information needs of education, and the development of technology-based teaching. The implementation of the programs that has been carried out were the teaching ability improvement by developing and adopting new teaching methods, the research activity programs and its implementation through community service activity, and trainings, seminars, workshops, and short courses. The establishment of postgraduate dan doctorate degree program was also in process. The effort to establish cooperation with other more advanced universities has always been improved both for local and international level. The supervision system of the planning and the implementation of the programs was carried out by Rector and Quality Assurance Agency by monitoring and evaluating the lecturers’ performance at the end of each semester. The monitoring and evaluation report was given to the rector to be followed up. Rector was sending the report to each dean and head of study program at faculty level and instructed them to guide the lecturers who have good performance. While for those who have poor performance, the dean was asked to not giving them courses for the next semester, instructed the lecturers of foundation to be actively implementing research and community services as a requirement to get salary and send them to seminars and workshops activity.
