Vol. 28, no. 2 (Summer 2004): Music Information Retrieval. Includes papers from the 2003 International Symposium on Music Information Retrieval (ISMIR). As reflected in three of the ... articles, a central concern of the field is how to assess and compare the performance of different MIR systems--a complex matter made more difficult by legal impediments to a publicly accessible corpus of audio recordings for use as test material (p. 1). Early Music. Vol. 31, nos. 1 (February 2003) and 2 (May 2003): Ars Subtilior in performance. Each issue features a pair of that originated at the 2000 American Musicological Society meeting in Toronto and continues the debate regarding this perplexing music as sound.
