Introduction: Vertical transmission (TV) is the main responsible for the infection of children under 13 years of age by HIV and certain care should be taken to prevent transmission of the virus, cesarean section, non-breastfeeding, pre- and administration of antiretroviral drugs by the mother and infant. It is known that HIV has an affinity for the immune and central nervous system (CNS), which can cause especially important neurological changes in children. Therefore, considering the exposure to the virus, the amount of medication and the prolonged time to HIV negative in infants, it is extremely important to monitor the neuromotor development of these infants, allowing diagnostic and therapeutic intervention when necessary. The study evaluated the motor development of infants exposed to HIV in their first year of life and identified the care they performed Methods: We evaluated 13 infants born to HIV-positive mothers who were followed up at SENIC at four, eight and 12 months of age using the Motor Scale Children of Alberta (AIMS). Prenatal and birth data were obtained from the infant's chart or interview with the mother and / or the caregiver. Results: This study found that 30.76% of infants with four months and 15.38% of infants with eight months had a delay in neuropsychomotor development, but all were normalized. All infants received antiretroviral (ARV) and fed a milk formula. The majority of mothers attended prenatal care with adequate prophylaxis during gestation, during delivery and most of the users underwent cesarean delivery. Conclusion: Prenatal quality as well as prophylaxis of the mother and infant have been correctly controlled by the health service. In relation to neuropsychomotor development, less than half of the infants presented a suspicion of delay at four and eight months, normalized to 12 months. The most evident risk factors correspond to the vulnerability of the socioenvironmental context that influences the development of the infant.
