BI-IM: “+I” IS FOR INTEGRATED \nWHOLE BUILDING MODEL, RESEARCH APPROACH AND COLLABORATIVE METHODS DEALING WITH INDUSTRIAL CASES: AIRPORTS
Notice bibliographique
Résumé
The seminar is part of an agreement on cultural and scientific cooperation existing \nbetween the University of Florence and the ETS - Ecole Superior de Technologie, \nMontreal (Quebec) Canada. The topics covered include the parametric design and \nmethodologies and tools for integrated planning in particular at airports. In particular, \nit covers topics such as: the difficulty in achieving the objectives of sustainability, which characterize current practices, which show low productivity and predictability , \nas well as inadequate quality of the final product design. The proposed BIM Committee and the state of the art in this field. Then examles will be introduced. \nAfterwards there will be a study on the situation in Europe and specifically in Italy. \nThe seminar also provides an introduction to integrated design followed by a \nsession of Integrated Design Workshop. At the end of the workshop the students \npresent and discuss the work, confronting the criteria proposed in front of an \ninterdisciplinary committee. Student teams is interdisciplinary, formed by \narchitecture students, engineering students and specialists \nare targeted to share in the project team the concept of integration, to obtain an \nimprovement of the development process. \nIn addition, the approach will be contextualized within Lean Design integrated \nmethodologies using instrumentation technology for building information modeling. \nBIM is presented as the solution to many problems of the industry. The large public \nclients worldwide require delivery of projects based on parametric models; in the UK \nLOD (Level Of Definition) 2 is compulsory since years, the European directive will \nmake procurement practices harmonic throughout the EU. However for a successful \nuse of BIM, described as a revolutionary technology, it requires a radical change in \ndesign paradigms. The seminar introduces the concepts of BIM and OPEN BIM and \nhas its impact on the evolution of practices in the world. These aspects will also be \ncorrelated with the life cycle of the project by introducing the innovative concept of \nBI-IM (Integrated Building Information Modeling). Finally, the thematic seminar will \nprovide the opportunity for an interdisciplinary debate on how these trends impact \narchitectural design. AIA (American Institute of Architects) created a committee in \n2005 to monitor the impact of BIM on design practices. The situation was summed \nup with the phrase "adopt or die"; however, the Higher Education and Research in \nArchitecture, Engineering and Construction have poorly developed methodologies to \nprepare the younger generation to be the leaders of change in this industry that is \nundergoing a deep transformation. The first seminar presents the work of the AIA BIM Committee and the state of the art in this field. Examles are introduced. \nAfterwards there is a study on the situation in Europe and specifically in Italy. \nThe seminar also provides an introduction to integrated design followed by a \nsession of Integrated Design Workshop. At the end of the workshop the students \npresent and discuss the work, confronting the criteria proposed in front of an \ninterdisciplinary committee. Student teams are interdisciplinary, formed by \narchitecture students, engineering students and specialists
