Frammenti di vita quebecchese. Proposta di traduzione e commento linguistico-traduttologico al romanzo Femme Forêt di Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette.

Il presente lavoro, diviso in tre capitoli, offre una proposta di traduzione e il relativo commento linguistico-traduttologico del romanzo autobiografico Femme Forêt, scritto dall’autrice quebecchese Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette. Il primo capitolo serve da introduzione teorica al lavoro e fornisce le informazioni essenziali al lettore per potersi addentrare nella successiva analisi. Si apre con una panoramica sulla situazione linguistica attuale del Québec per poi procedere con una digressione sulla storia linguistica quebecchese, a partire dall’arrivo dei primi esploratori francesi. Interi paragrafi sono dedicati alla variazione linguistica all’interno della comunità francofona e alle peculiarità del francese quebecchese. Ancora, una sezione è dedicata alla letteratura quebecchese, che risulta indipendente dalle altre letterature francofone. Segue l’introduzione all’autrice, con particolare attenzione al suo percorso artistico. Un’intera sezione è dedicata al romanzo: si propongono la sinossi, le tematiche, la struttura e una riflessione approfondita sul perché l’opera possa essere considerata un’autobiografia. Il capitolo si chiude con un primo breve approccio alla lingua del romanzo che mostra un’interessante variazione sociolinguistica. Il secondo capitolo consiste nella traduzione in italiano del romanzo, con testo a fronte in francese. È stato deciso di mantenere la struttura in frammenti del testo originale, dunque laddove quest’ultimo salta una riga o va a pagina nuova, lo stesso accade nella traduzione. Nel terzo capitolo viene offerto il commento linguistico-traduttologico, che comprende l’analisi dei traducenti più ostici e chiarisce determinate scelte traduttive. In conclusione, il lavoro si propone di essere un’attenta e critica analisi alla traduzione del romanzo Femme Forêt, delineando al tempo stesso la realtà linguistica contemporanea quebecchese. This work, which is divided into three different chapters, offers a translational proposal and its linguistic-translational comment of the autobiographical novel Femme Forêt by the Quebecois author Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette. The first chapter represents a theoretical introduction and gives the reader the fundamental pieces of information to access the following analysis. It opens with an overview of the current linguistic situation in Quebec and continues with a digression on the Quebecois linguistic history, from the arrival of the first French explorers. Entire paragraphs are devoted to the linguistic variation within the francophone community and to the features of the Quebecois French. A section is also devoted to the Quebecois literature, which appears to be independent from the other francophone literatures. Then comes the introduction to the author, with a particular attention to her artistic career. An entire section is devoted to the novel: here, you can find its synopsis, its topics, its structure and a deep analysis on the reasons that make the work an autobiography. This chapter ends with a first brief approach to the language of the novel, which shows an interesting sociolinguistic variation. The second chapter consists in the translation of the novel into Italian, with the French original parallel text. It has been chosen to maintain the source-text’s structure in fragments, therefore when in the latter a new paragraph or a new chapter starts, the same happens in the translation. In the third chapter the linguistic-translational comment is provided, which examines the most difficult terms and passages to translate and clarifies some translational choices. In conclusion, this work aims to be an accurate investigation of the translation of the novel Femme Forêt and to outline at the same time the current Quebecois linguistic situation.
