Abstract
The article concludes a six-part series on the first Canadian accreditation standards for governing boards of health care facilities. The preceding articles appeared in Hospital Trustee beginning January 1991. This article discusses standards VI through X, which identify the board's responsibilities for the facility's quality management, health and safety, and emergency preparedness. It is the board's role to ensure that these programs are in place and to monitor their results on a regular basis.
