Abstract
AuszugDie durch ökonomische, politische und soziale Prozesse generierte Beschleunigung der Geschichte hat die Sozialwissenschaften in arge Bedrängnis gebracht. Die Globalisierung nahezu aller ökonomischen Transaktionen und Strukturen sowie die rasanten technologischen Umwälzungen in einer Vielzahl von Feldern in den letzten dreißig Jahren verändern grundlegend die in realer Zeit fundierten gesellschaftlichen Aktions- und Interaktionsmuster. Die in der abstrakten Zeitebene angelegten theoretischen Anstrengungen zum Verständnis dieser Umwälzungen bleiben demgegenüber merkwürdig stumm. Es scheint als ob die sozialwissenschaftlichen Theoretiker sich in ihre disziplinären Schneckenhäuser zurückgezogen hätten, in denen sie sich so prächtig eingewöhnt haben. Das Neue wird zwar gesehen, meist auch gut beschrieben, aber eben paradigmatisch entweder nicht Ernst genommen oder als übliche empirische Abweichung von der theoretisch fundierten Regel wahrgenommen, die sich scheinbar mit wenigen Anstrengungen in das vorhandene Theoriegitter eingruppieren lässt.
