Prenant appui sur les transformations qui affectent le rapport entre les sciences biomédicales en France et les autres sphères sociales, qui peuvent être rapportées au processus plus général de contextualisation de la science, l’article examine leurs effets sur les partenariats de recherche et les modes de production scientifique qui en résultent. L’analyse porte sur le cas d’ISTEM, un laboratoire dont l’objectif est de trouver des voies thérapeutiques à certaines maladies rares à partir du nouveau domaine de recherches que sont les cellules souches embryonnaires humaines. Ce laboratoire a été créé à la faveur d’un partenariat sur le long terme entre l’INSERM et l’Association Française contre les Myopathies. L’analyse de son procès de production montre qu’il est le siège de trois logiques productives : celle de la recherche académique, qui est dominante, et celles du don et du marché qui induisent, chacune, des partenariats spécifiques. Ce procès s’apparente alors à une combinatoire productive orientée et structurée par le modèle de la convergence intégrative.
