Les infirmieres travaillant dans les soins palliatifs ont des responsabilites specifiques liees a leur environnement de travail, en plus de la surcharge de travail et de la penurie du personnel infirmier qui sont couramment constatees dans le systeme des soins de sante. Ces aspects particuliers peuvent contribuer a augmenter les sources de stress organisationnel et l’epuisement professionnel dans les soins palliatifs. Le but de la presente etude vise a evaluer les sources de stress organisationnel et l’epuisement professionnel aupres des infirmieres autorisees et auxiliaires autorisees travaillant a l’unite des soins palliatifs du Centre de sante Elisabeth-Bruyere (CSEB). Vingt-quatre infirmieres ont complete l’Inventaire d’epuisement professionnel (Maslach Burnout Inventory) et l’Echelle des stresseurs en soins infirmiers (Nursing Stress Scale) dans les langues francaise et anglaise ainsi qu’un court questionnaire demographique. Les resultats font ressortir quelques sources de stress organisationnel presentes aupres des infirmieres, mais un degre faible d’epuisement professionnel : un epuisement emotionnel faible, une deshumanisation de la relation avec le patient moyenne et un sentiment d’accomplissement personnel eleve. Le modele de soins palliatifs du CSEB semble identifier les sources de stress organisationnel potentielles et developper des strategies appropriees pour palier a ces stresseurs. L’analyse de ces resultats, les limites de l’etude ainsi que des avenues pour des recherches ulterieures sont discutees.
