Abstract
Este art?culo compara el soneto Mientras por competir con tu cabello de Luis de G?ngora, con Aguilucho, del poeta contempor?neo Luis Garc?a Montero. Despu?s de una breve revisi?n hist?rica del carpe diem, el estudio se enfoca en la alegor?a del tiempo. En el primero la competencia se realiza entre la belleza feme nina y la naturaleza, pero es el tiempo el vencedor de la contienda. El soneto de Garc?a Montero recontextualiza el topus dentro de un ambiente urbano y la competencia se manifiesta en una persecuci?n entre polic?a y h?roe. Se consideran las im?genes barrocas de la poes?a y de la pintura de la vanitas y se muestran las trasformaciones logradas por Garc?a Montero: el coche alado que representa al tiempo se convierte en un carro polic?aco, el rojo de las rosas se muestra en los se m?foros urbanos, las im?genes de guerra aparecen condensadas en un arma o el cristal del cat?logo de belleza se convierte en una insinuante botella de cocacola. Si bien el texto de Garc?a Montero puede considerarse una s?tira o una parodia gongorina, ambos poseen una caracter?stica com?n: la angustia existencial por la fugacidad de la vida. Se reflexiona entonces sobre las coincidencias entre la posmodernidad y el desenga?o barroco.
