Abstract
This article compares two classical Spanish dramas: Un drama nuevo, by Manuel Tamayo y Baus, and Los cuernos de Don Friolera, by Ramón del Valle-Inclán, analyzing their metatheatrical dimension, or the reflections about theater that each play perfoms on the misty limits between reality and fiction: the ‘play-within-the-play’, the 'theater about theater', and the ‘metateatrality concept’. En este artículo realizaremos un análisis comparativo de dos piezas teatrales clásicas españolas: Un drama nuevo, de Manuel Tamayo y Baus, y Los cuernos de Don Friolera, de Ramón del Valle-Inclán. Analizaremos sus aspectos metateatrales: “teatro dentro del teatro”, “teatro sobre teatro”, “concepto de metateatralidad”, las reflexiones que sobre el teatro se llevan a cabo dentro de cada obra, y los límites brumosos entre realidad y ficción.
