Ce memoire a pour principale objectif d’etudier la relation entre les pratiques de gestion par portefeuille de projet et le succes des projets et programmes de developpement international finance par l’Agence canadienne de developpement international (ACDI). Ce memoire tente de repondre a la question suivante : Dans quelle mesure l’implantation d’une gestion par portefeuille contribuerait a augmenter le succes ou plus particulierement l’impact et l’efficience des initiatives de developpement international? Ce memoire met egalement en avant-plan des pratiques a appliquer lors de la realisation des programmes et projets de developpement international afin d’ameliorer l’efficience et l’impact de l’aide au developpement international. Afin d’etablir quelles sont les pratiques employees a l’ACDI et si elles se rapprochent des pratiques de la gestion par portefeuille de projet, nous avons employe une methode empirique qui consiste en la realisation d’une dizaine d’entrevues semi-structurees avec des employes de l’ACDI. Pour la realisation de cette recherche de type qualitatif, nous avons employe une grille d’entrevue elaboree a partir du cadre conceptuel. Les resultats de la recherche ont permis de confirmer les hypotheses de la recherche. En effet, il existe une relation entre le niveau d’implantation des pratiques de gestion par portefeuille de projet et le succes des projets et programmes de developpement international. Cette recherche a permis de conclure qu’il y a, en effet, des pratiques de gestion des programmes et des projets qui pourraient etre ameliorees grâce a la gestion par portefeuille afin de contribuer davantage au succes des initiatives de developpement international. Les limites de la presente recherche se situent au niveau de la collecte de donnee et les suggestions pour des recherches futures reposent sur la theorisation ancree et la recherche-action.
