Cet article s'intéresse à l'évaluation de la performance des systèmes d'information gérant les essais cliniques. La complexité et les spécificités du secteur biopharmaceutique soulèvent en effet la problématique de gestion de l'information dans l'exécution de ce processus. Les objectifs principaux sont de mettre en évidence les impacts d'une automatisation du processus de traitement de données sur les projets de gestion de l'information lors des essais cliniques. Plus précisément, la performance des systèmes d'information est évaluée en termes de coût, qualité et délai. L'approche privilégiée est l'utilisation de la dynamique des systèmes, approche enrichie par l'utilisation de cadres théoriques complémentaires. Une étude de cas au sein d'une CRO a été réalisée, afin d'élaborer un modèle de simulation par la dynamique des systèmes. Ce modèle a par la suite permis d'effectuer une analyse comparative de différents systèmes d'information et entre autres, d'anticiper les conséquences de la variation des taux d'erreur lors de la transmission des données. Les résultats observés ont notamment mis en évidence qu'une automatisation performante du processus favorise l'exécution de multi-projets relatifs aux essais cliniques.
