La relación que se le atribuye a la luna con la concepción proviene de antiguo, tiene su origen en la coincidencia aproximada entre el periodo de revolución lunar alrededor de la tierra (29 días) y el ciclo ovulatorio de la mujer, que con mayor o menor regularidad oscila alrededor de esta cifra. La luna pasa por 4 fases: Luna Nueva, Cuarto Creciente, Luna Llena, Cuarto Menguante. En la actualidad existe la creencia de que las mujeres embarazadas iniciarán su trabajo de parto bajo la influencia de la luna llena. Los objetivos del estudio fueron: • Determinar si existe un aumento en el número de partos en la Sala de Partos del Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, según la fase lunar. • Determinar si existe un aumento de partos inducidos en alguna fase. Se realizó un estudio observacional, retrospectivo, descriptivo. Se estudiaron un total de 5421 partos comprendidos en los 10 ciclos lunares (del 10 de Enero de 2005 al 1 de Noviembre del 2005). De los cuales: Luna Nueva: 1372 partos (25.31%), Cuarto Creciente: 1323 partos (24.41%), Luna Llena: 1348 partos (24.87%), Cuarto Menguante: 1378 partos (25.42%). Como conclusiones: 1. No hemos podido comprobar la influencia de las fases lunares en el aumento del número de partos. 2. Después de desglosar en cada fase el número de partos en función de su inicio, también podemos concluir que en ninguna de las distintas fases lunares hay un aumento significativo de inducciones.
