Abstract
OBJETIVO: El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la efectividad del tratamiento osteopatico en pacientes diagnosticados de sindrome de latigazo cervical (SLC) por accidente de trafico, frente al empleo de un protocolo clasico de fisioterapia. MATERIAL Y METODOS: Se estudiaron 380 pacientes diagnosticados de SLC y clasificados dentro de los grados II y III segun la Quebec Task Force. Los pacientes fueron divididos de forma aleatoria en dos grupos: grupo A o grupo de control y grupo B o grupo experimental. El grupo de control fue tratado mediante un protocolo clasico de fisioterapia convencional, basado en el empleo de electroterapia, cinesiterapia y termoterapia. El grupo experimental fue tratado con un protocolo de actuacion osteopatica donde se incluyeron tecnicas de thrust, de articulacion, de tejidos blandos tanto a nivel estructural, craneal, visceral. Los pacientes del grupo A recibieron tratamiento fisiterapico diario, mientras los pacientes del grupo B recibieron tratamiento osteopatico una vez por semana, hasta recibir el alta medica. Se recogieron los siguientes datos: la escala analogica visual (EAV) donde se recogio la percepcion subjetiva de dolor por parte del paciente; el rango de movilidad articular cervical en los movimientos de rotacion y flexion (por ser los mas afectados en este tipo de paciente) y el numero de sesiones necesarias para recibir el alta medica.
