Abstract
[Résumé en français] cette thèse propose d'observer les rôles et les représentations dont est investi le monde marin dans la littérature acadienne contemporaine. Il s'agit de situer la place de l'imaginaire marin dans cette société, d'en expliquer les particularités historiques et d'en cerner l'impact culturel. Il s'agit auusi d'explorer la littérature de cette minorité canadienne, depuis l'émergence d'une parole distincte (vers 1960) et jusqu'en 1990, décennie qui marque un tournant dans les registres de l'imaginaire littéraire acadien. En adoptant une méthodologie comparatiste, nous avons donc tenté de comprendre quels sont les mythes qui sous-tendent la vision du monde marin au sein de la culture acadienne, quelles en sont les filiations et surtout quelles en sont les modifications, les métamorphoses ? Quels sont les rôles endossés par l'espace marin ? Quelle est l'évolution de ces images ? Quelle importance jouent-elles dans les représentations que la société acadienne construit d'elle-même ?.
