Abstract
Comme d’autres poètes de la grande génération romantique, Victor Hugo est un écrivain engagé, mais il l’est de manière originale puisqu’il ajoute à son œuvre littéraire une implication réelle dans les affaires publiques, comme pair de France, député et sénateur, de 1845 à 1885. C’est à la tribune de ces différentes assemblées que s’observe le mieux, chez lui, une héroïsation du penseur à travers la figure de l’orateur, mise en scène par le discours politique. Cette figure de l’orateur, riche et complexe, permet de comprendre l’originalité radicale de la conception hugolienne de l’engagement.AbstractLike other poets of the great romantic generation, Victor Hugo is an engaged writer, but in an original way, since it adds to his literary works a real implication in the public affairs, like par of France, deputy and Senator, of 1845 to 1885. It is in his political speeches that the heroism of the thinker (also called “Poet” or “Genius”) is observed best, through the figure of the orator. This figure of the orator, dramatized and put in scene by the political speech makes it possible to understand the originality of the Hugo’s conception of engagement.
