Abstract
En terminos historicos, tanto Canada como Mexico han desarrollado una relacion cordial y constructiva con la Cuba revolucionaria. Para principios de los noventa, los dos paises norteamericanos, a diferencia de Estados Unidos, habian mantenido una politica de dialogo y entendimiento constructivo con la Cuba fidelista. Sin embargo, desde 2000 las relaciones diplomaticas comenzaron a empeorar: el gobierno de Canada habla de la necesidad de insertar un poco de enfriamiento de parte del Norte en la relacion bilateral, y Mexico comenzo una nueva estrategia en su relacion con La Habana, (enfocandose en la cuestion de los derechos humanos). Cabe destacar que existen semejanzas en la politica que ambos paises han desarrollado hacia la Cuba revolucionaria, pero tambien hay diferencias notables. Este ensayo analiza la naturaleza y el alcance de las relaciones que ambos paises han empleado en su relacion con La Habana desde 1994. Tambien destaca las principales diferencias y semejanzas en las estrategias de los gobiernos de Mexico y Canada y, finalmente, estudia los factores que explican la filosofia empleada en Ottawa y el Distrito Federal. El ensayo termina con un analisis comparativo de la relacion que emplean ambos gobiernos y posibles cambios en el futuro
