Abstract
Los ensayos clinicos aleatorios (ECA), que son la forma mas elevada y rigurosa de experimentos clinicos con enfermos, fueron introducidos en 1948 por Bradford Hill y desde entonces se calcula que se han realizado mas de 150 000 en el mundo entero, particularmente en los paises desarrollados. Veinte anos mas tarde, hacia 1968, dio inicio la revolucion cientifico-tecnica en la medicina y 20 anos despues, en 1988, surgio en Canada la corriente que se conoce con el nombre de medicina basada en la evidencia (MBE).
