O livro As centralidades e as fronteiras das empresas do seculo 21 (DONADONE; CHAVES, 2011) e uma obra que contribui para a discussao sobre as novas concepcoes de empresa e o predominio das financas, suas crencas e atores, atraves de instrumentos como a governanca corporativa, responsabilidade social, sustentabilidade socioambiental, os fundos de pensao, privaty equities e atraves tambem de instituicoes como orgaos publicos, associacoes privadas e seus atores. O livro, organizado por Julio Cesar Donadone e Maria A Chaves Jardim, destaca-se pela preocupacao dos autores quanto as questoes culturais de modo que as formacoes cognitivas dos individuos sao consideradas atreladas a socializacao (DOUGLAS, 1998). Alem disso, os artigos fogem do caminho proposto pela economia ortodoxa da “mao invisivel”, pois a proposta do livro e analisar as “maos visiveis” (HIRSH, 2003), seguindo as propostas da sociologia economica e das financas. A obra e estruturada por uma coletânea de artigos com uma visao multifacetada e complementar da relacao “empresa-producao”. Dessa maneira, os trabalhos possuem recortes metodologicos oriundos de pesquisas de campo realizadas no Brasil, China, Estados Unidos, Canada, Franca e Reino Unido. A contribuicao do livro esta em discutir a concepcao tradicional de organizacao e de empresa, considerando o cenario de predominio das financas.
