Abstract
Les informations dont on dispose sur l'habitat du fouille-roche gris (Percina copelandi), une espèce vulnérable, sont fragmentaires et très générales au Québec. Nous avons caractérisé et modélisé, à l'aide d'un indice probabiliste d'habitat (IPH), l'habitat estival fréquenté par le fouille-roche gris dans les rivières Gatineau et Richelieu afin d'acquérir de nouvelles connaissances sur la biologie de cette espèce et pour assurer sa protection. Une pêche à l'électricité portable a été utilisée pour déterminer son abondance relative dans les zones lotiques alors qu'une seine a servi pour les zones lentiques. La caractérisation de chacune des stations d'échantillonnage a été effectuée à l'aide de sept variables d'habitat. La vitesse du courant est la seule variable explicative commune aux deux rivières. L'espèce aurait une préférence marquée pour les milieux offrant des vitesses moyennes d'écoulement variant entre 39 et 48 cm/s. De plus, la présence légère de périphyton dans la rivière Gatineau, ainsi que la faible profondeur de l'eau, la forte hétérogénéité du substrat, la présence de débris ligneux et d'un couvert végétal dans la rivière Richelieu seraient également associés à la présence de l'espèce.
