Abstract
Ce séminaire tournera autour de la traduction, comme on tourne autour du pot, sans aborder carrément le sujet -si on entend par traduction la livraison efficace d'un produit culturel pret à consommer par un nouveau public.Il sera plutôt question des tours mêmes de la traduction, là où la traduction joue des tours, pour donner forme à des poétiques du transculturel.Je traiterai de certaines pratiques 'déviantes' de la traduction dans le contexte canadien, pratiques qui créent des zones d'hybridation littéraires et culturelles -des traductions ludiques d'Erin Mouré («transElations»), aux «traductions sans original» d'Agnès Whitfield, en passant par la pseudotraduction chez Nicole Brossard et la «transfiguration» telle que pratiquée par Jacques Brault et E. D. Blodgett.. Résultats de dynamiques culturelles propres à l'histoire canadienne, ces pratiques n'en participent pas moins de la pulsion généralisée à l'hybridité caractéristique de notre époque.Pulsion qui met à l'épreuve l'idée même de la traduction, celle d'une pratique de répartition qui gère équitablement la différence, qui se porte garante des frontières, des rives bien séparées par des ponts, des cultures bien identifiées par leurs langues, des identités nationales protégées dans leur unicité.
