<titre>R&#233;sum&#233;</titre>Ce texte vise &#224; comprendre comment les couples franco-catholiques du Qu&#233;bec sont parvenus, malgr&#233; un retard certain, &#224; contr&#244;ler leur f&#233;condit&#233; dans un contexte socio-religieux particuli&#232;rement contraignant. Tirant parti du fichier des micro-donn&#233;es du recensement de 1971 ainsi que d&#8217;entrevues en profondeur, les auteurs identifient les groupes les plus susceptibles de transgresser les r&#232;gles strictes &#233;dict&#233;es par l&#8217;&#201;glise catholique et d&#233;montrent le caract&#232;re souvent tortueux des chemins emprunt&#233;s par les couples autant que par le clerg&#233;&#160;: choix d&#8217;un confesseur plus indulgent, principes moraux adaptables selon les situations, actions &#224; double effet, autant d&#8217;exemples de stratag&#232;mes utilis&#233;s pour parvenir &#224; contr&#244;ler la f&#233;condit&#233; sans compromettre sa fid&#233;lit&#233; &#224; la doctrine catholique. L&#8217;arriv&#233;e de la pilule et la publication de l&#8217;Encyclique Humanae vitae marquent la fin du recours &#224; de tels subterfuges et l&#8217;appropriation, par les couples, de cette question d&#233;sormais devenue objet de morale personnelle.
