Abstract
The link between relational experiences in high school and CUITent self-esteem and psychological distress of young women aged 16 to 24 attending adult education centres Abstract Retuming dropouts in second chance schools constitute an heterogeneous group with distinct pathways, histories and needs.The present study focuses on a group of 202 women aged 16 to 24 who chose to re-enter or pursue their education in second chance schools' settings.The purpose of this study is to explore the links between the decision to drop out, relational experiences in high school, and self-esteem and psychological di stress of young women enrolled in Québec's adult education centres.The study also highlights young women's perceptions of differences between a high school settings and adult education settings.The results show that previous relational experiences in high school play a significant role in the CUITent adjustment of young women and the decision to either pursue or retum after dropping out to second chance education.
