L’intervention précoce et l’intervention auprès des personnes présentant un trouble du comportement (TC) ou trouble grave du comportement (TGC) sont deux priorités dans le domaine de la déficience intellectuelle et des troubles du spectre de l’autisme. Cependant, elles sont actuellement traitées de façon indépendante dans la pratique et en recherche. Dans le cadre de cet article, certains défis, reliés à l’étude des TC/TGC en petite enfance, sont discutés. Différents impacts reliés à la présence de TC/TGC chez l’enfant et sa famille sont ensuite exposés. Les résultats préliminaires d’une étude visant à recenser les besoins perçus par les intervenants, professionnels et gestionnaires des centres de réadaptation en déficience intellectuelle et troubles envahissants du développement (CRDITED) concernant l’évaluation, l’intervention et l’intégration des enfants ayant des TC/TGC sont également discutés. En conclusion, le programme de recherche qui suivra cette étude de besoins et qui vise à mettre en place différentes études permettant de répondre à ces besoins est présenté.
