Abstract
Dans l’adaptation théâtrale de son récit Se questo è un uomo, Primo Levi ne crée pas un langage de l’extrême avec le spectacle des corps suppliciés et des râles de la souffrance. C’est au contraire une véritable stratégie de l’énonciation, du dialogue et de la langue qu’il met en oeuvre. En effet, sur scène, la première personne du récit est diffractée en plusieurs instances locutrices (un personnage d’auteur, un choeur, un déporté) ; le dialogue et la communication entre les déportés déploient, en direction du destinataire-spectateur, une fonction beaucoup plus heuristique qu’émotionnelle, et le babélisme provoqué par toutes les langues maternelles présentes à Auschwitz exprime le désir de préservation de l’humanité. De sorte que dans cette version dramatique, la langue de l’extrême entretient un rapport d’intelligence avec le destinataire-spectateur, tout en valorisant les éclats d’humanité des déportés.
