This past March, the American Society of Gene Therapy (ASGT) and the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (FDA/CBER), sponsored a workshop entitled “Nonclinical Toxicology in Support of Licensure of Gene Therapies.” The goal of this meeting was to familiarize investigators with the regulatory requirements for nonclinical studies in support of labeling for product licensure, and to identify areas where gene therapies may differ from standard biologic or small molecule therapeutics.
