Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract: This paper examines the construction of language ideologies in Acadia through an analysis of articles published in L’Évangéline (1887-1892) and Le Moniteur Acadien (1883-1926), two important newspapers of their time. It will focus on three key periods of Acadian history – 1880-1910, 1950-1967 and 1970-1973 – chosen because each one saw an intense period of growth of Acadian social space. The author first describes the main language ideologies that can be seen through editorials and letters to the editor in those years, and then looks at how the discourse on language practices has changed in recent years. More specifically, she looks at the various linguistic strategies used by Acadian artists, and illustrates how these artists are defining new ways of seeing language practices, which they see as being diverse and adaptable. Keywords: linguistic representations; Acadian newspapers; Acadian history; ideology and linguistic practices.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
