Abstract
Résumé 1. De toute évidence, les capacités cognitives augmentent durant l’enfance. Plutôt que de considérer le développement uniquement comme un phénomène biologique, on peut le considérer également comme une acquisition de connaissances. 2. Le vieillissement a un effet négatif sur les fonctions cognitives. L’intelligence fluide est plus atteinte que l’intelligence cristallisée. L’expertise permet de contrecarrer ces effets, en partie en tout cas. 3. Les travaux actuels sur le vieillissement et l’expertise essaient de mettre en lumière les mécanismes compensatoires rendus possibles par l’expertise, tels que la planification. 4. Dans beaucoup de domaines, le pic de créativité se situe autour de la quarantaine. Il y a cependant de grandes différences entre les domaines.
