Nous avons menée une recherche descriptive et comparative des parcours scolaires des filles et des garçons en Guinée, de septembre à décembre 2001, dans deux écoles rurales et deux écoles urbaines guinéennes, du primaire et du collège dans chacun des milieux. Le principal objectif de cette recherche est d’expliquer la persévérance scolaire des garçons et surtout celle des filles de familles défavorisées de ces écoles, et par là-même de contribuer à éclairer, sur le plan sociologique, la question des réussites scolaires atypiques. Ce sont les résultats préliminaires d’une de ces écoles, celle du collège de Porédaka, qui font objet de cette communication. Ils ne sont valides que pour les élèves de la 10e année, dernier niveau d’étude du secondaire général de premier cycle. La méthodologie utilisée combine enquête par questionnaire (de 42 élèves de la 10e année), entretien semi-dirigé (d’environ 20 élèves, parents, enseignants, responsables locaux), observation du logement des élèves et recherche documentaire.
