s impossible pretendre esbossar una descripci ms o menys slida de l'organitzaci general de la producci i del repartiment social dels productes a l'Andorra medieval: la documentaci que es pot reunir t massa llacunes.Sobre aquestes qestions, s fins i tot ben sovint muda.El ms assenyat, en conseqncia, seria certament llanar la tovallola, confessar la nostra ignorncia i intentar d'aproximar-nos al funcionament d'aquesta societat per altres camins, amb altres preguntes.Per descomptat, tanmateix, aquesta posici de prudncia metodolgica s insostenible a llarg termini.De quina manera podrem proposar una anlisi vlida de les relacions socials sense saber gens ni mica de qu vivien els actors d'aquestes relacions?Si b s cert que hi ha una mica de retrica en aquesta manera d'abordar el problema, no s pas solament pel gust de la paradoxa.Ms aviat es tracta de significar fins a quin punt no podem acceptar la nostra ignorncia en la matria.Darrere d'aquest exemple, hi ha efectivament un dilema terrible per a l'investigador: com ignorar el que no podem saber i que hauria de ser conegut imperativament?Davant de la impossibilitat de construir un saber, aquesta injunci de coneixement s una dimensi quotidiana de la feina de l'historiador, que no est prou subratllada, em sembla.Per a progressar, per a construir les nostres narracions o les nostres anlisis, hem de fer com si conegussim o com si el que ignorem noms tingus una influncia limitada o aproximadament estimable.L'important, al meu parer, no s denunciar aquest tripijoc histric sin fer-lo explcit.Aquest bricolatge de l'investigador s necessari i hi guanyarem molt si conegussim millor les maneres, el trucs, els artificis que l'historiador fa servir per neutralitzar una ignorncia ben legtima 1 .
