Abstract
"Os autores avaliam 15 pais de crianças com autismo, 15 pais de criançasafetadas da síndrome de Down e 15 de crianças consideradas normais, através da Escalade Toronto (TAS), com o objetivo de verificar alexitimia no primeiro grupo. Nas contribuiçõesiniciais sobre o tema, os pais de crianças autistas são descritos como frios e poucoafetivos. Os resultados do presente trabalho mostram maiores níveis de alexitimia nasmães de autistas, embora não significativos, seguidos pelas genitoras de crianças normaise, por fim, pelos pais de portadores de síndrome de Down, mais capazes de expressãoafetiva. Discute-se a maior dificuldade de expressão de afetos nos pais de autistas a partirdas articulações sociais e de comunicação da criança, que interferem nos membros dafamília, induzindo maiores dificuldades de expressão emocional. Da mesma forma, nasfamílias de crianças normais, observa-se maior dificuldade, principalmente do pai, emfunção do próprio papel social exigido da população masculina ao passo que, nos genitoresde crianças com síndrome de Down, pela sua maior infantilização, a expressão afetivapermanece em níveis mais primitivos sem maiores necessidades de controle."
