Abstract
Le texte qu’on lira ici est issu des travaux préliminaires d’un \ngroupe de recherche (Groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire sur le Montréal ethnoreligieux, GRIMER). Il présente les éléments essentiels retenus pour problématiser la question centrale portant sur l’impact du facteur religieux au sein du processus multifactoriel de recomposition identitaire contemporain. Il esquisse ensuite à grands traits l’évolution de la scène identitaire mettant en rapport les nouvelles minorités immigrantes et la société d’accueil depuis 1970. À l’instar de bien des sociétés euroaméricaines, au cours de cette période, le Québec a été le lieu d’une transformation ethnoreligieuse sans précédent dont on méconnaît d’ailleurs encore la complexité. Nous nous appliquerons à décrire la forme et le mouvement de cet aspect de l’immigration tel qu’il peut être apprécié à partir principalement des données du recensement canadien. Finalement nous illustrerons le travail de notre modèle analytique en soumettant une simulation de cas à partir des résultats d’une recherche empirique portant sur les leaders musulmans \nau Québec.
